New Year, 2020. We start listing all the things my girlfriend probably shouldn’t eat because of her high blood sugar: no rice, no noodles, no pasta, no bread, no cereal…
I check the fridge. There is nothing she should eat in there except for a few plain vegetables. How can I quickly whip up something tasty for my starving girlfriend? I can’t use too many processed ingredients. I have to show her that it’s possible to make good food even if the raw ingredients seem plain. So it has to be simple.
Looking at the Napa cabbage in the fridge and the spices in my cabinet, this is what I came up with. The mushroom-flavored Napa cabbage stir fry. The final product is not an Instagram-worthy food picture, but it sure is simple and tasty.
Ingredient
- Napa Cabbage (1 Cup)
- Mushroom seasoning (2/3 Tbsp)
- Vegetable Oil (1 Tbsp)
- Water (1/4 Cup)

Directions
- Peel leaves from Napa cabbage and stack them on top of one another
- Cut Napa cabbage into 1 inch wide strips
- Heat pan on high heat
- Add oil to the hot pan or wok
- Once oil begins to smoke, put the Napa cabbage strips into the pan
- Cover the pan and let it cook on high heat for 2 minutes
- Give the Napa cabbage a toss or stir and cover on high heat for another 1 minutes
- Remove lid and add Mushroom seasoning and water
- Stir until the water evaporates on high heat
- Removes from pan and serve on a plate
- Enjoy!
